families.
WHAT IS NDIS
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) was established under the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 (NDIS Act).
It provides support to people with a disability through support packages that are tailored to individual needs. It works with you to identify the supports you need to achieve goals in many aspects of your life. This may include independence, involvement in your community, education, employment and health and wellbeing. As at the end of Sept 2022, there are 534,655 participants in the NDIS system.
WHO CAN ACCESS NDIS

Age Requirement: below 65 years old

Residency Requirement: Australian citizen, permanent resident, or Protected Special Category Visa holder

Disability Requirement: permanent impairment*
* For children younger than 9, early childhood approach applies.

The responsibility of another government system or community service
